Our Moms

Today is Mother's Day. I want to brag a little bit about the two women who have mothered me my entire life.

The first is my Mom. She is so beautiful and so energetic. We thought we were close to losing her a couple of weeks ago when she had a mild heart attack, Praise God she is with us today. Because of my Mom I have such a love for vintage things. She taught me to crochet when I was in 2nd grade, and she always kept my sewing basket full of embroidery projects while I was growing up. She loved to read, and I love to read now. She would tell me all about how life was to grow up in the 4 seasons of Pennsylvania and all my growing up years my heart yearned to live where there were 4 seasons. When I moved to Iowa I discovered a whole new world. It was hard for me to understand about the variety in weather until I actually lived through it. I loved it. My Mom taught me patience and tolerance of other people. She took us to Sunday School and VBS, I grew up loving to be in church and still do to this day. My Mom always sang in the church choir, to my ears she sang as wonderful as a canary! I make spaghetti the way my mom did, and meatloaf and homemade tacos. No one can make them taste as good as my Mom's cooking. Thank you for always making sure I had what I needed while growing up, I might not of always got what I wanted, but I was very content with what I had. I am very happy to live next to my parents! Here are my dear, sweet Mom and Dad:

The second mom I had all my life was my mother-in-law. Our families attended the same church. My mother-in-law took my Mom under her wing when Mom was a young bride fresh from the East Coast, my Mom loved her also. My mother-in-law was the woman I wanted to grow up to be like the most. She was funny, patient, always kind, an excellent cook, the best piano player you ever heard, and always had a ready smile for me. I got the chance to tell her that she was my hero a few years before she passed away. I loved her dearly. She went home to be with the Lord before Jerry and I started dating. I know she would be very happy that we are together. I am so lucky to have had her as a second mom my entire life, she showed me as much love as my real mom. All my life she would encourage me and when I was little she did not hesitate to discipline me if needed. She always made me feel like I was loved and worth something. Most people do not get to have their mother-in-law as a second mom from day they were born, I am glad I had all those years with her, it makes me appreciate her son, my husband, even more. My wonderful mother and father-in-law:

Happy Mother's Day to both of you!! You both shaped me into the person I am today. I am very lucky to have you both!
