Getting Ready For The New Desk

Today we worked on the office. As you can tell by the pictures, not only does it still need to be unpacked, but it has also become the catch-all for everything that has not found a home yet. We did not unpack all the boxes or rearrange the room today, instead we have been working on moving the chairs to where I want them in other rooms and clearing the floor area so the moving guys can get across the floor with the new desk to where Jerry's work space is. The boxes that held the office supplies, such as pencils, paper, empty file folders, etc, were unpacked and the supplies put in their new homes. The rest of the boxes were stacked neatly out of the way of traffic. Jerry's make-do desk has been unassembled and the floors swept in preparation for tomorrow morning. Jerry will be happy to have a real desk finally. Kyle is letting me borrow the desk he had as a teenager, I was using a card table before. Thank you, Kyle!

And this picture is looking east towards my work area:

Kyle is planning on taking the treadmill soon. I love all the windows in this room. When I was little, my 2 sisters and I slept in this room. There used to be French doors that went into each of the bedrooms that are on either side of the hallway door. Where the hallway is now, there used to be closets. One of the tenants back in the 70s took out the French doors and built closets in each of the bedrooms against those walls and removed the old closets and made that into a long, narrow hallway.

Yippee!! My wonderful husband just informed me that he is ordering pizza for dinner for his hard working wife. I think Jerry is ordering the pizza because he doesn't want to have to clean up the kitchen this evening if he cooks!!! Our men can be so sly, or so they think. Oh, but we love them anyways.

Hi Donna,
I will try posting a comment here. I love the wonderful openness of your 'Office'. I can picture the windows with lace curtains. One time when I had an enclosed back porch I went to the Thrift Store and bought several long panels of lace curtains for under $10. When I got them home I sewed a curtain rod channel down the long side of each one and then put them on PVC pipe sideways. One panel covered 2 windows and I had all my windows covered for less than $10!!!
