Oh! The Pain And Agony Of It

Poor, poor Jerry.  His day started off really good.  At 8 a.m. he took the car to the mechanic to have the steering fluid thing fixed.  No sooner did he get there than he doubled over in excruciating pain and horrible nausea.  He was back home 10 minutes after he left.

For the next 4 hours he laid on the bed sicker than a dog (boy! that dog must have been really sick to give us that cliche).  And so much pain.  He knew right away it was a kidney stone.  He’s had one before.  He felt it travel from his back to his front and then the pain disappeared, to be replaced by a new pain in his back – a second stone.  That stone did not take as long to pass through him.

About 3:00 p.m. he was asking for something to eat.  I gave him chicken noodle soup and so far so good, it has stayed with him.

He didn’t want to go to the emergency room because he knew they would not do anything for him.  I kept him drinking water to move the stones along.

We are praising God this evening that he is doing so good now.  I had read that once a stone passes you feel 100% better instantly.  And he did.  The stone he had several years ago took him 3 days to pass.

One thing I read today about kidney stones is that they are more frequent in the summertime because people allow themselves to get dehydrated.  So keep drinking that water.  Also, people who consume calcium everyday tend NOT to get stones, so drink your milk, eat your yogurt and gobble up that spinach!
